King Salman Changed the Large Cabinet Structure
RIYADH – The Saudi leader, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud unexpectedly issued a royal decree to make a major overhaul of the Saudi government.
Launching Al Arabiya on Thursday (27/12), King Salman appointed Ibrahim al-Assaf as the new Saudi Foreign Minister, replacing Adel Jubeir, who was transferred to the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz was appointed as National Guard Minister, Turkey Shabbaneh as Media Minister and Hamad al-Sheikh was appointed as Minister of Education in the oil-rich country.
In addition to the above positions, King Salman also changed almost all the leaders of the Government Organization and the Governor in the major cities of Saudi Arabia. Like Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal replacing Turkey al-Sheikh as President of the Sports Authority, while Turkey al-Sheikh has been appointed as Chair of the Saudi Entertainment Authority.
In addition to cabinet changes, a royal decree was also issued to restructure the Political and Security Affairs Council, led by Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
So far, the Saudi government has not revealed the main reason for the massive changes in the Saudi government.
