PlayStation 5 is Predicted to Support Graphics up to 4K

TOKYO – The latest generation of Sony game consoles, PlayStation 5 (PS5), is rumored to be released in the next few years. But the matter of specifications has been discussed a lot.

Reporting from KompasTekno, Patcher said that the next Sony console might be equipped with a number of powerful features, such as gameplay up to 240 FPS and the ability to play virtual reality (VR) games. As a result, besides the image looks sharp, also the various animated movements in the game will be very smooth with that high frame rate.

“I think they might have 4K and 240 FPS devices that would support the PSVR,” Pachter was quoted from NDTV on Thursday (01/03/2019).

In other words, Patcher predicts the PS5 will have far more powerful capabilities than the current PS4 Pro version. PS4 Pro can run games up to 4K resolution, but with frame rates stuck at 30 FPS so the animation movement doesn’t look too smooth. Some of the games that are played at resolutions in 4K on the PS4 Pro are also mostly just upscale versions which are boosted from their initial resolution at 1080p.

Other rumors circulating said that the PS5 would not be present in the near future. The possibility of the successor to the PS4 will only be released towards the end of 2019 or 2020.

In addition to the PS5, Patcher also predicts that Sony will release another console that is focused on running games via streaming and priced at much cheaper prices. He said a similar strategy would also be carried out by rivals Sony, Microsoft, with its Xbox console line. A growing issue says that Microsoft is likely to release the Xbox 2 in the near future.

Previously, PS5 was recommended to use Ryzen AMD CPU technology and it seems that AMD will have a share in the PS5 GPU as well.
